JETSTAR will add more flights between Australia and Thailand to prepare for the high season at the end of the year.
From December 15 this year to January 29, 2010, the low-cost Australian airline will operate five flights per week from Sydney to Phuket.
JetStar’s Airbus A330-200 will provide the service to the passengers which is the 7th airplane of A330 of Jet Star and that means Jet Star can support more 1,200 passengers on this route.
JetStar has also just launched a new flight between Singapore and Phuket which will be in service from 15 December onwards.
Chief Executive Officer of JetStar, Bruce Buchanan said, “Thailand is one of the most sought after destinations for tourists from Australia and South East Asia.
Australian tourists consistently choose Thailand as their second favourite destination in Asia (next to Indonesia following research in June 2009), and by introducing this new service we can bring in thousands more tourists during the peak season.”
“If we include the flight from Melbourne to Bangkok, this means JetStar has eight flights per week to Thailand. The flight from Sydney to Phuket will start to operate on the same day as the flight from Singapore to Phuket, so JetStar will be able to take more than 6,200 passengers per week from December onwards.”
The JetStar A330-200 Airbus has two floors and with an economy section that seats 265 and a star class section that seats 38. JetStar has a total of seven Airbus A330 airplanes.
JetStar is also currently operating a “Price Beat Guarantee” promotion which enables customers to get a 10% discount if they find any airline that can offer a cheaper price on the same date and time of their flight.
Another airline hoping to get more bums on seats is Bangkok Airways with the launch of the ‘Phuket Early Bird and Late Night Flight’’ promotion.
As well as a new fifth daily flight from Bangkok - Phuket, the airline will now also be offering a special discounted airfare for the first and last flight between Bangkok-Phuket.
The promotion is valid for travel from 25 October to 15 December.
