Thirteen Thai women and their families were welcomed home from their adopted Germany this month at the Duangjitt Resort & Spa.
The ?Home Coming? event was the sixth of its kind and co-organised by the TAT offices of Frankfurt and Phuket.
It was the fifth trip for the Seip family who now reside in Hanover and for nineteen year-old Isabel the daughter of Thai wife Naparporn and German husband Udo Seip.
For Isabel it is always something special, ?It?s a good feeling to visit where a part of me is from. I love Thailand and especially the people?s caring mentality.?
Conversely it was the German people?s rather authoritarian attitude that first attracted Naparporn to Udo when she was a 20-year-old student in Germany, ?I like the Germans? strict approach to discipline as opposed to Thai people?s.?
As Naraporn was the friend of Udo?s sister, when she was brought home for dinner at Udo?s house, she left that evening with more than a taste for just Wienerschnizel.
The Seip family were joined by more than 50 other visitors from the Frankfurt group and spent the duration of their Phuket holiday at the four-star Duangjitt Resort and Spa.
The TAT designed a thorough and fun-filled schedule for their four-day trip, which included trips to Patong beach, the old town in Phuket, Fantasea, Phi Phi, Phang Nga Bay and the Similan Islands.
For Udo, and many of his fellow countrymen, this is the only way to travel, ?It?s great travelling like this as they arrange everything and we get to see many things.?
It?s a win-win situation with both the TAT and German-Thai families as not only do the travellers receive a discounted rate on their Thai Airways flights but also receive subsidised rates for hotels and tours.
Somchai Chaicharonesin, the Director of TAT Frankfurt explained of the benefits of holding these sorts of events, ?We would like to show to German people why people come here and what?s happening in Phuket. It?s also good promotion when they go back to Frankfurt and show their families and friends the wonderful pictures of Phuket and Thailand.?
The Seip family have bought a villa in Pattaya and hope one day to move permanently to Thailand to retire.
