THERE was plenty of fun in the sun to be had along with valuable lessons to be learned during the second lifesaving carnival at Loma Park, Patong recently.

Over sixty competitors and fifty spectators came to the beach to either see or participate in a wide variety of beach-and-water based activities designed to improve people’s basic life saving techniques

The activities began at 9am until 2.30pm. There were eight events for adults including a beach relay team event and Iron Man and Iron woman events and three events for children, including board races and a 2km beach run.

A special closing ceremony dinner was hosted by Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort. Contestants and guests received prizes and dried off from the water and rain while enjoying drinks and dinner.

Prathaiyut Chuayuan, Sports and Recreation Manager at Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort was pleased with the success of the life saving carnival, now in its second year saying, “we all had a great time on the day and the fireworks display topped off a magnificent evening.”
