Thais love short-forms. Thorasap (phone) become tho. Number becomes ber. Kor-Tor is a short for kuay teow (noodles).
This is a gathering place for the healh conscious. Locals know that the only ingredients used in these noodle platters are from-the-sea fresh fish. No pork, no chicken, no beef. Everything's fishy.
The noodle tom yam is a speciality, K. Jaruaypon the owner told the Post. They invented the recipe. She says ordinary tom yam noodles don't have "any taste", because the chefs elsewhere just use a standard mix. "We use the freshest of lemon to add that tang, and our soup is made from fish. That's why we have a lot of muslim customers too, they know there's nothing but fish here." she said smiling proudly.
Fish balls that go into the soups are a hot favourite. They take ages to prepare, it's a long, elaborate process, K. Jaruaypon says--no short cuts here--but much appreciated by the health-crazy clientele of Kor-Tor.
The restaurant's been around 8 years and is open 8:00-17:30 daily.
