Once again, Island Furniture brings to Phuket the Island Furniture Cricket League. The event began Sunday, 13th January when last year’s winner & runner-up played each other to kick the new season off.

The event is being held at the Cherng Talay Wittayakoim Senior High School (near the Laguna complex).

This year will see 5 particpating teams, up 1 from last year's tally of four. The teams are:

ท Liquid Lounge Lizards. Sponsored by the Liquid Lounge bar in Surin. They are last season’s champions previously called ‘The Academicals’.

ท Island Cricket Club. Looking for a sponsor. Last year they came runners-up

ท Patong Cricket Club. Sponsored by the Aussie Bar in Patong. Been in the League since the start.

ท Phuket Cricket Association. Looking for a sponsor. A revamped team from previous seasons.

ท Village Cricket Team. A new team to the League made up of players from The Village development on Coconut Island.

Format: 11 a side, 35 over, one day rules. Each teams plays the other 4 teams twice in a round-robin format. At the end of the season the two top teams on points play off in the season final which at this stage will be played towards the end of April.

Food is available at all games supplied by Steve from ‘The Shires Pie Company’. Everybody is welcome & additional help, especially in the umpire & scoring department is welcome.

Other cricket happening in the future:

ท February 22nd – 24th: The Cricket Association of Thailand (CAT) will be hosting the 2nd Thailand Inter-Regional Tournament in Chiang Mai. Teams from the 4 main regions of Thailand get together for a round robin contest. Last year Phuket came 3rd.

ท April 16th-20th: The 5th Phuket Cricket Sixes tournament will take place in Karon.

ท April 21st – 27th: A visiting touring side from Australia will be in town looking for a few games during the week they are here.
