Summer is approaching and everyone wants to look their best in bikinis and swim wear.
In the past I have on occasion shared information about body treatments with you. Now, I have some more news about these treatments: Thermage and laser lipolysis or Smartlipo.

Thermage body shaping

Until now, Thermage has been used successfully for treating facial and neck laxity. Body Thermage has produced phenomenal results for many patients using the ThermaTip STC treatment.
But the new body shape procedure by Thermage, ThermaTip DC, can help tighten, firm and shape the body in a single go without surgery, injections and with little to no downtime.

ThermaTip DC heats deeper than former procedures for increased collagen tightening in the subcutaneous layer of the skin. It's ideal for patients who are not significantly overweight but are looking for deep tightening of sagging skin and circumferential reduction. Some say that the heat that is produced by radio frequencies coagulates the blood supply to fat cells. That causes lipolysis, or the breakdown of fat cells, as well.

Thermage cellulite

The new ThermaTip CL procedure is used for treating cellulite appearance. Cellulite is caused by multiple factors such as hereditary disposition (blame your parents), gender and an increased body mass index, which results in protrusion of fat cells into the dermis and inadequate blood circulation to tissue.

ThermaTip CL can reduce cellulite appearance with 2 mechanisms. First, as we get older, fibrous septa, or dividing tissues, lose elasticity and become uneven. The heated fibrous septa are restored, equalising their elasticity as well as decreasing the stress on the skin, reducing dimples. Second, blood supply to tissue is reduced and insufficient to maintain healthy fat cells and fibrous septa
To state it simply, ThermaTip STC is used in men and women with loose, sagging skin typically after heavy weight loss or after delivering a baby. ThemaTip DC is also used in case you want circumferential reduction, but you must not be too overweight. Finally, ThermaTip CL is also used to treat cellulite.

What's the ideal treatment in case you want to reduce the fat deposits but you don't want to have surgical liposuction?

Smartlipo

I talked about Smartlipo or laser lipolysis last year. Now, the scope of the application areas is wider. Not only the face, back, bra strap region, breast (gynecomastia), thighs, hips, buttocks, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks, neck but also fat pads under the eye can be helped. Smartlipo is considered semi-invasive as it needs local anesthesia on the treated area, but it has a lot less downtime than conventional liposuction.

Candidates for Smartlipo should be within 25 lbs. of his or her ideal weight. The laser permanently burns the fat cells and melts them away.

All these body treatments have different mechanisms of treatment that are suitable for particular types of patients and needs.
