Gday! I?m Nathan Hague, and I?m a personal trainer!
Starting from this issue, I?m pretty excited that my regular column is going to be read by people like you; People who are interested in looking good naked!
That?s right ? we all hear about other people ?doing? exercise (you know, the ones who go religiously to the gym every single day. Then tell you about it. In detail. For ages?), but what?s their main motivation for slogging away hours on a treadmill? Why DO they lift tonnes of steel? What DO they get up for at 5.30am - when most other sane people on the island are sleeping in and listening to the current rainy season pound on their roof?
Easy! They want to look good naked! Think about that for a minute.
Let me ask you how much more confident and happy would you be, if you were able to get out of that slinky dress with all the lights on, looking like an absolute fox? How awesome would it be, to rip off that shirt and sport a toned, buff chest that SCREAMS ?touch me!?
Now, as a personal trainer who?s trained hundreds of clients, I?ll let you in on a secret: For all the different fitness goals out there, THE main reason a person will start a fitness routine, is to look the best they can. Simple!
Now for a second ?insider secret?: Getting that body that you want can be as easy as remembering these three basic rules:
Eat right
Sleep tight
Train short and hard
We?ll look at the above in a little more detail in the next issue (don?t worry, we?ll have a giggle too, so your eyes won?t glaze over!), but for now, just remember the first one: Eating ?right? is 90% of your fitness goal!
It really is! Of course, this column isn?t to berate you for eating that pizza last night or to moan at you for drinking that icy-cold Chang with it (I LOVE both of these by the way...) ? no, this column is going to help you look the best you can be, by making small changes in things such as your diet. I want you to remember that whatever changes I suggest ? they?re ones that you can do for the rest of your life and NOT for just the next few months!
OK, so enough talk ? let?s give you all a small example of such a change. Are you ready? Here it comes...
Eat breakfast.
No really, that?s it. Simple statement?very hard for a lot of people to actually do.
Men in white lab coats studying more than 3,000 people who have lost at least 60 pounds and kept it off for an average of 6 years, found that eating breakfast every day was a weight control strategy for 78% of the trial participants. (The report also says that the people who kept off weight long-term were eating a low-fat diet and exercising for an hour or more each day, but we?re making a simple point right now!)
EAT BREAKFAST! It will make you thin.
Next issue we?ll be looking at a few more ways in which to tweak your eating, so you?LOOK GOOD NAKED!
Please feel free to email me your questions regarding fitness and nutrition. I?ll do the best I can to answer them all!
Right, now I need to go to the Green Man for my double-eggs Benedict and morning Guinness? (teehee)
Cheers all!
