Silkline 510 catamaran to launch soon
Sat 24 Mar 2007
Sirus Asia Co. Ltd. in Phuket, trading as Silkline Asia, will launch the first of their completed Silkline 510 series 15.4 metre aluminium catamarans mid-April.

'HarAlley' will be the first of the Silkline 510 designs and will slip into the waters off Chalong Bay on the high tide. HarAlley boasts an extensive fit-out with four spacious double cabins all with their own shower and toilet facilities, separate crews quarters, large dinette seating up to 12 guests, long range fuel tanks, salt to fresh water making facilities and large extended range refrigeration systems for long term liveaboard charter.

The purpose designed cat will enter the Phuket charter market as soon as she has been put through an extensive sea trail which will include a sail to Langkawi in Malaysia, and back.

The Australian owner Simon Grant?s dream is soon to become true. Simon has lead by example putting in the hard yards over the past four months, sometimes working 14 hours a day alongside teams of Thai carpenters and spray painters.

The horizons in the region are expected to be dotted with Silkline cats over the next year as a total of six 510 Series are to be built in the region. Another is due to be launched in Langkawi, as this story goes to press. One more is due to be launched in Chalong for sea trails a few weeks after HarAlley, and one more begins in Malaysia in three weeks. Another starts soon in Jomtien near Pattaya, the first of the CAD pre-cut kit versions. To add to that, a sixty-five footer is well on its way on the design board with construction expected to begin mid to late 2007.
