Eating in-house in a cafe
Eating in-house in a cafe
Thu 28 Jan 2010
The ‘In House Cafe’ is located on Thepkrasatri Road, opposite the Phuket Avenue condo, in Phuket Town. It has a contemporary style with odd and retro-style decorations of wall mounted remote control cars and many black and white pencil sketchings.

It has a wide selection of both Thai and European food. We started by ordering a Spicy
Mushroom Salad (50 baht) which came with four different kinds of mushrooms (Straw Mushroom, Black Jelly Fungus, White Jelly Fungus, Orangi mushroom) that were sliced and put together. The sliced mushrooms are then cooked in a sour and spicy salad sauce and placed on a green salad. It is one of the healthiest dishes on the menu.

We then ordered a Hot Chilli soup with very fresh and big pieces of shrimp, this came with
a cha-om omelet (65 baht) Cha-Om is a green leaf that has a sulfurous smell similar to
the smell of pond weed. Once cooked, though, the bad smell disappears leaving a much milder flavour. Cha Om is also used with curry soup, and eaten as a side vegetable either fresh or boiled by Thai people.

We ordered two plates of rice (10 baht each) and for drinks, we had a watermelon smoothie
(50 baht) and lemon juice (25 baht), which slightly tipped us over our strict Dinner for 2
(Hundred) Baht budget... but don’t tell the editor!

The restaurant is open from 10am until midnight, every day. For more information, call the In House Cafe on 087 123 2345
