It is often mooted whether chocolate is better than sex and at the recent ?Great Chefs of Phuket? evening at envision in Surin, it was the first question asked.

Each month Steven Roberto selects a little known chef on the island and offers them the chance to showcase their skill as well as making a recommendation on which wines to have with each dish.

This month?s chosen Chef was Peter Webber from Les Anges, who in addition to being a restaurant owner is a world class Chocolatiere (Chocolate Chef). Surprising us with the knowledge that chocolate is not just used for puddings and sweets he delighted us with main courses where an active ingredient was high Cocoa content chocolate.

The Chilli Con Carne with chocolate was subtle, but my favorite was the chicken served with a chilli and chocolate sauce ? not what you would expect at all.

The whole evening was accompanied by great wines selected by Steven and was book-ended by 2 great drinks ? a chocolate Martini on arrival and homemade Hot Chocolate to finish.

The answer to the question ? having had the various dishes and tried many different chocolates that night, my contention is that chocolate is better than sex ? this is open for debate, though!
