Phuket Post - A Different Kind of Newspaper
The House of the Beautiful Images
Wed 4 Oct 2006
The House of the Beautiful Images has been under the management of Jitarun ?Pla? Bunket for two months now and she invited Phuket Post to visit her coffee shop that is nestled on Soi Romanee in Phuket City?s Sino-Portuguese quarter.

We keep our menu very simple. It all revolves around a breakfast, brunch and lunch theme. We have fresh yoghurts, muesli and a selection of sandwiches and toasties ? all made with fresh ingredients. Our fruit and vegetable shakes are really popular as well.

All of our baked goods come from the Life Home Project bakery, which makes delicious cakes and muffins. Our coffee is very important. It is from Lanna Cafe, which is a nongovernmental organization that is part of the Wakachiai Project.

They import their coffee from hill tribes in Northern Thailand. The hill tribes would not be able to get a good price for their coffee without this project, so we are proud to sell it at our little coffee shop. The quality is very good and I am happy that the people that grow the coffee get paid a fair price for it. It is very high quality coffee and our customers enjoy it very much.

Everything about The House of the Beautiful Images is done either to be unique or creative. It feels like we are in a different time here on Soi Romanee. It is so quiet and relaxed!

Inside the walls are decorated with photos by Achirawit Churmung. These photos are excellent and they are available for sale if a customer likes them and wants to buy them.

We also have a little garden in the back with all kinds of plants and water features. We have a lot of loyal customers but we want to invite new customers to come and try our food and drink and to experience our coffee shop.

Everybody is welcome here. We hold meetings for the Phuket Photography Club here every two weeks and we are about to start a 50 baht beer night on Tuesdays where people can come and enjoy a drink and some of our food.
