Phuket is a much safer place to visit than any other country I've been in. But I don't really like the local Thai local police. They seem to, many times, harass tourists and charge them without reason. I do think that the whistle project is a good idea. If women have this equipment they will be able to call for safety whenever a problem arises.

I like the whistle project because there is a lot of tourism on Phuket, and there obviously are many risks. It's a good idea, but the police should be more effective too. Overall I think Phuket is very safe. I've been to the Philippines. It's really not very safe at all. Phuket's much safer.

This is a good project. They should have started it a long time ago. They could have helped many people. But there is no guarantee that when tourists blow a whistle there will always be someone to help. Besides, who knows if tourists will use these responsibly?

Actually, Phuket is a very safe place, so whistles are unnecessary. We've been here a long while and have never felt threatened. We think the police do a good job of protecting the people here.
