INDURINA Singh is a lady with a vision for Phuket. Born into a prominent Indian family in South Africa, she is a lady with credentials who is in the process of opening a learning centre for the people of Thailand.
The Rino Group Company Training in Phuket will be her way of showing her admiration and deep respect for the Thai people.“I want to share my knowledge with them, and what better time is there than now,” she said.
“The global crisis, recession, and the economic downturn are factors which contribute and impact on the decision makers and force them to make tough decisions.
“Every person, whether it’s the employee or the employer, has a choice to either melt down or stand the heat in these hard times. It is important to know how to approach and handle this crisis. How you cope with these tough times plays a vital role.”
Indurina said the prospect of staff retrenchment was guaranteed to lower morale, and the best way to motivate staff was to invest in some training.“Employees are happier because they are developing within the company, and idle minds and hands are fully occupied,” she said.
Indurina has created a training programme with a stimulus package that helps key individuals and teams cope more effectively with the turmoil of the global recession. This can take the form of brief, but intensive coaching of senior staff members to help them manage their people’s anxieties, stress and worries; working with team members to help them stay focused and productive and, most importantly, motivating them to think and behave more creatively to support their company through the crisis period.
Indurina moved to Austria in 1998 where she made a name for herself in Salzburg. She realised there was a lack of IT skills within local government and set about bringing change and technology to the education system by persuading the local Chamber of Commerce that they needed IT-based systems.
After much determined lobbying, she was finally invited to present her ideas.
Within eight months she was given the go-ahead to work with WIFI, a tertiary institute linked to the Chamber of Commerce, and launched Tele-learning, better known in modern times as the eLearning system. She coached the English-based programs in IT, Business Management, and Technology.
She is now well respected by many big companies whose staff she has trained, both in-house and through eLearning, and she is currently writing a book based on her life experiences. “I want my book to send out a message to all people, that everything is possible, but only when you have a vision and the will to execute it,” she said. “I’m not one to follow footsteps. I want to be the one who makes the footprints.”
Indurina and her partner Mathias moved to Phuket in 2007. “The timing was right. I needed to move on, and coming here was the perfect opportunity,” she said. “I believe I have a lot to offer the people of Phuket, whether it’s simple work-based English lessons or training for betterment. The people of Phuket have everything going for them; they are happy by nature and helpful. But they are shy and we can overcome that and help them develop,” she said.
Indurina believes that Phuket is now ready for IT based learning and intends to be at the helm. She has great plans and a clear idea of how training and support can become part of the fabric of Phuket’s development. “School leavers and young people have IT skills that their parents didn’t have, so they will accept eLearning and associated schemes a lot easier,” she said.
“I believe I have the materials to introduce and maintain that development as well as introducing new ideas which endorse and strengthen learning and training across the board and at all levels.”
