Recent international jewelry exhibitions, held at Phuket shopping malls Jungceylon and Central Festival, have been labelled a sparkling shopping success by the throngs of shoppers who came to peruse the stalls and see what the latest in Thai jewelry-fashion looked like.

Manning her family?s stall was Bangkok-based Ruby Manufacturer, Pariya Patiluntakankul who as well as showing
the Post her fabulous collection, also described the intricate process involved in making the perfect jewel.
?The four C?s are important in producing a great ruby: Colour, Clarity, Cutting and Carat. Our family business,
Gems Born, has been open since 1976.?

Khun Pariya decided to formally join the family business after she finished her university degree and instead of
joining the ranks of staff who ?prepares the rubies? she decided to open her own fashion jewelery line.

?I love fashion jewelery as it?s much cheaper and therefore accessible. I focus on multi function jewelry, which has 2 in 1 and 5 in 1 uses, so that people can choose to use in many different ways.?

Examples include broaches that can also be used as pendants, and rings with five interchangeable faces, as well as an
extensive collection of ruby jewellery. ?People think diamonds are the most expensive therefore best, but that?s simply not true. Clear and beautiful rubies are difficult to find,? said K Pariya, ?There are many stages to make
a good stone, first we need to cut the stone and then we check to see if it needs to be heated or cleaned. Then
we decide on what shape to make it, in order to make the most money from it.? K. Pariya added that although many
of Gems Born products are expensive, her items, like all real ruby products, each have a certificate to authenticate
their quality.

Keep an eye on both shopping malls for regular motorcycle, car and fashion exhibitions.
